The 2014 MTV Video Music Awards were held on August 24, 2014 at The Forum in Inglewood, California. It was the 31st annual MTV Video Music Awards. American singer Beyoncé and Australian rapper Iggy Azalea led the nominees with eight nominations while American rapper Eminem followed them with seven.
"Wrecking Ball" by Miley Cyrus took home the award for Video of the Year. For her acceptance speech, a man named Jesse was sent by Cyrus' to raise awareness to the homeless youth of America.
Beyoncé closed the show by performing a 16-minute medley of multiple songs from her self-titled fifth studio album. After the performance, Jay Z and her daughter Blue presented the Video Vanguard Award to her.
